Isla Nublar, Costa Rica - Walking through the jungle with Owen

It was almost dead silent in the jungle. The only sounds you heard were the echoes of your own footsteps and breathing. Your heart beat violently in your chest as you made your way through the thick bushes together with Owen. He held on to his gun tightly, pointing it out in front of him and making a path through the leaves, following Zach and Gray's footsteps. They couldn't have gotten far, but the jungle was a dangerous place, with more than just dinosaurs to worry about. You hoped neither of the boys had gotten hurt.

Owen helped you get over a fallen tree, holding onto your arm softly (even though you could have easily done so yourself). You exchanged a quick look and a smile curled his lips, looking into your eyes.

He was just about to say something when the sound of an engine starting echoed through the jungle. You both turned your heads towards the sound, Owen's other hand closing around your waist and pulling you down and into his arms.

'Did you hear that?' he asked, peering into the jungle, trying to determine where the car might be.

You nodded. 'Zach and Gray... Come on,' you told him, pushing yourself from Owen's arms and running further North.

'[Name], wait!' Owen whispered, following you quickly.

'Look!' you cried out softly, slowing your pace as you reached an employees building from the old Jurassic Park, completely overgrown by the green of the jungle. One of the cars was missing and you slowly walked in, looking around you.

Owen soon joined, watching you as you picked up a shirt that probably belonged to one of the boys.

'Is that one of theirs?' he asked, walking further into the building and looking around him.

You nodded, remembering to have seen Zach wear the same vest when he arrived on Isla Nublar.

'Good,' Owen sighed. 'That road leads straight back to the park. How did they even get one of these things started?'

He walked to the other side of the building, going through whatever was stored there. He moved around some things, creating an echoing sound that probably traveled through the whole jungle. You looked behind you, feeling the ground shake softly and hearing the crisping of leaves.

'They probably switched the motor blocks... Owen, do you hear that?'

Before he could react the ground shook again and you could clearly hear something move around the building. You turned back to Owen, looking in his eyes and seeing the growing panic in his green orbs. He gestured you should walk towards him and you did so quickly, feeling your heart beat in your throat. He took you into his arms and pushed you down to the ground with him.

You sat behind the other car, both breathing heavily. Owen reached for your hand, closing his around it and squeezing it slightly, telling you everything was going to be okay. He peered around the car and sighed, signaling to you he left his gun on the ground next to the truck.

The ground shook for a third time and the growl of something big echoed through the small building: the hungry growl of the Indominus Rex.

Owen quickly turned back to you, focusing his gaze on your face. You smiled at him shortly, squeezing his hand, but you couldn't hide your fear, feeling your whole body shake. Owen moved closer as the Indominus Rex did so as well. He let his forehead rest against yours and you both closed your eyes, feeling comforted by each other’s presence.

The dinosaur's heavy, ragged breathing sent shivers down your spine and you could feel her hot breath on your skin as she lowered her head and tried to sniff up your scent. She pushed against the truck and you squeezed Owen's hand even harder, feeling the metal of the car rub against your back.

A deep growl filled your ears and for a moment that was all you could hear, until the ground shook again and the Indominus Rex moved away slowly, leaving you and Owen to finally take in a breath.

Owen quickly let go of you and reached for his gun that had fallen on the ground. He nodded at you, leaning back against the car, telling you the danger was over. You swallowed hard, taking in a deep breath and nodding as well.

Before you could say something however, the outer wall collapsed and the roof caved in, accompanied by a loud cry from the Indominus Rex. You pushed yourself from the ground as fast as possible and started running towards the main road, looking over your shoulder to see if Owen was behind you. He was.

You ran back inside the jungle, hoping to disappear in the thick bushes and trees. You heard a helicopter fly over and put your hand to your forehead, looking up. Owen ran passed you, gesturing you should follow him. You heard another cry from the Indominus Rex in the distance and slowed your pace, realizing InGen was hunting her.

'Owen,' you yelled. 'They're going after her! She's headed for the Aviary,' you swallowed hard, pointing up towards the sky, seeing the helicopter fly over your heads towards the large birdcage. 'If she breaks in there or if they shoot...'

He turned around, frowning at your words and also looking up. 'We will have another containment problem,' Owen nodded. 'This road takes us to nearly every attraction. Come on. We need to hurry.'

He started running again and you quickly followed him, still hearing the helicopter in the distance. They didn't nearly have enough firepower to kill the Indominus Rex. This could only end in tragedy.

'Over there!' Owen cried out to you, running out of the jungle and pointing to the large glass sphere a couple of miles away from you down hill. 'She's almost at the Aviary.'

'We have to warm them!' you replied desperately. 'If the Pteradon and Dimorphodon escape, they'll go straight for the helicopter.'

You got your phone from your pocket and called Claire. 'Pick up, pick up, pick up...' you mumbled impatiently, looking out onto the large birdcage, hearing the soldiers on board of the helicopter open fire.

'No,' you whispered, seeing the Indominus Rex crash through the glass of the sphere. You slowly removed your phone from your ear, seeing the dinosaurs fly out and heading towards the helicopter. 'No...'

You watched silently as another tragedy unfolded. It only took two of the Pteradon to make the pilot lose control. You could see one of the men fall out the back, his agonizing scream sending shivers down your spine. He was soon swept from the sky and flown away by one of the other bird like dinosaurs.

It all happened very quickly and before you knew it one of the dinosaurs crashed into the cockpit of the helicopter, while several others attacked the sides. It was sent into a spin and soon crashed into the sphere, shattering the glass. You could see the explosion from afar and swallowed hard, knowing that there could have been only one man flying the helicopter: Simon Masrani

The owner of the park was now dead.

You watched as more of the Pteradon and Dimorphodon escaped the Aviary and you felt Owen's hand on your arm, telling you it was time to go.

'Back to the trees!' he cried out, seeing more and more flying out. 'Go, go!' he told you, moving his hand to your back and pushing you out in front of him.

You could hear the sharp cries of the Pteradon and looked up as you ran into the jungle again, seeing at least fifty of them making their way towards the main park and the Innovation Center, where all the visitors had been asked to gather.

This was going to be more than just a tragedy. This was going to be a bloodbath.

Suddenly you felt the ground disappear underneath you. Owen's arm was around your back and he pushed you down just as one of the dinosaurs came for your head. You looked at each other, panting heavily and you could see your fear reflected in his eyes. You both quickly got yourselves back on your feet and regained your way to the control room.

You were making your way through the jungle, nearing the main park and hearing all sorts of commotion as you ran onto the employees compound of the Aviary, when your phone rang.

'Claire,' you answered, following Owen through the security of the park and all the members of the containment team that were running and driving around like madmen.

'We just spotted Zach and Gray on surveillance,' she stated, sounding relieved. 'They're approaching the west gate. I'm headed there now.'

'The birds are lose,' you replied. 'Just stay where you are. We'll get the boys.'

'I'm already outside,' Claire panted, sounding like she was running. 'I'll meet you there!'

'Hey!' Owen called out to you as you hung up the phone. 'Get on.'

He drove up to you with a quad and you quickly stored your phone away, jumping on the back and folding your arms around Owen's waist. He quickly hit the gas and drove further onto the road to the main park. You felt the wind lifting up your hair and you held onto Owen tightly, feeling his muscles tense under your touch.

'You know, I normally save stuff like this for a second date,' he cried out to you over his shoulder. 'Try to impress you with my manly skills...' he laughed softly. 'But I guess after today we can skip those dates.'

You chuckled, letting your head rest on Owen's back. You liked that he was still able to joke around, but you knew he was only saying that because he was feeling nervous and probably didn't know if anyone would get off the island alive. He was scared. Just like you.

‘If all of this is over you can take me anywhere you want, as long as it’s miles away from this island…’

You saw Owen smile at you words and quickly turning his gaze back onto the road when it took you through the jungle again.

With the quad you were able to cover much more ground than on foot and you soon arrived at the back of the main park, seeing caretakers as well as security guards running around the compound trying to gather all of the containment gear the park had.

Owen drove as far up to the gate as possible and quickly got off when there where too many people running around. You jumped off as well, watching Owen get another gun from one of the security guards as the speakers around you were telling everyone that this wasn't an exercise and that live ammo could be used if the situation got out of control. For now all of them were running around with stun guns.

You ran though the gate and onto the main street (with shops and restaurants) together with Owen and several of the containment team soldiers.

'Give me a gun,' you told Owen, holding out your hand.

He frowned, turning his gaze to you for a few seconds. 'What? Do you even know how to use one?'

He quickly focused his attention back towards the sky and lifted up his gun, when a sharp cry echoed through the street. He started shooting at the flying dinosaurs that came your way. You sighed, looking around you, seeing people running and screaming in all directions. Several of them where lifted into the sky and flown off, just like the soldier you had seen falling out of the helicopter. You needed that gun, but you knew Owen was never going to give it to you.

You turned around, putting your hand to your forehead and staring into the sky. You swallowing hard, seeing one of the dinosaurs make a dive right for Owen and the soldier next to him.

'Watch out!' you yelled, pushing them out of the way and feeling strong, sharp claws close around your shoulder.

'[Name]!' you could hear Owen scream as the ground disappeared underneath your feet quickly and you were lifted into the sky.

You saw him lift up his gun, but apparently didn't have a good shot and lowered it again, telling the soldier next to him to do the same. You could see the sorrow in his eyes and he started running with you as the bird took you further down the street.

'Hang on!' he screamed.

You turned your gaze from him to the bird and tried to wiggle your way from its grasp. It was a long way down, but if you timed it correctly, you could land on top of one of the buildings or sunscreens.

You were able to reach the knife stuck to your belt and quickly slammed it into the bird’s leg. An angry and sad cry welled from its throat and it flew down, losing its grip on you. You stabbed it a last time and felt it release its grasp. Soon you were in a free fall, feeling your stomach turn.

You landed right on top of one of the large sunscreens, ripping the fabric and falling between the chairs and tables of one of the restaurants. You groaned loudly as your body hit the ground. You had known a lot of physical (as well as mental) pain in your time in the army, but nothing hurt as much as your whole body did now.

'[Name]!' you heard Owen scream again.

'Here...' you cried out with a raspy voice, slowly pushing yourself from underneath the ripped sunscreen and stumbling towards Owen, evading all the people that were running your way.

'Are you alright?' he asked worriedly, taking you into his arms and letting his eyes go over your entire body.

'I'm fine,' you grimaced painfully, pulling your already shredded jacket from your shoulders, feeling a shot of pain go through your muscles and injured arm.

Blood was dripping from the wound on your arm again and your whole body was covered in cuts and bruises. You clenched your hand around your ribs, knowing you had severely bruised (if not broken) several ribs.

'No, you're not,' he whispered, stroking the hair from your face and letting his warm hand rest on your cheek.

'I've been through worse,' you stated, swallowing hard, telling him without extra words that you were indeed not just a simple assistant. A small smile curled your lips as you looked at Owen seriously.

‘Now, how about that gun?'
