1943, America – Back in Brooklyn for Steve’s procedure
You were sitting in the backseat of a car. Doctor Erskine had asked you to escort Steve to the secure building, while he and Howard Stark – the man that had helped you built the machine that would make Steve a super soldier – were taking all the necessary preparations.
You hadn’t been surprised when doctor Erskine had picked Steve to go through with the procedure. He had agreed with you about him and about all the other soldiers. Steve may be weak, but he was a good man. Since the serum would enhance everything that was already inside the subject, there was no other choice but Steve. The other candidates had been great soldiers, but none of them were as good a man as Steve.
You had really started to like him. He was nice company and the more you got to know him, the more you thought he was a great guy. He was different from the men you were used to in Asgard. Pride and honor were two of the most important things there and even though you missed your home, you would hate to never see Steve again if you left earth.
He made you feel special. You could see in his eyes that he thought you were a beautiful and amazing woman. Something you had never seen in a man’s eyes before. At least not directed to you. As Lady Sif’s sister, you had always been in her shadow. There was no competing with her. You knew. You had tried.
‘I know this neighborhood,’ Steve said to you, after a long ride in silence. You both hadn’t known what to say and with the driver listening in you were not so keen on telling him anything personal. It seemed like Steve felt the same. Until now.
‘I got beat up in that alley,’ he continued, pointing at one of the alleys on his side of the car, ‘and that parking lot…’
You looked at him, seeing his eyes glance over all the streets.
‘Behind that dinner…’
A small smile curled your lips and you focused your attention back in front of you. You knew what it felt like to be picked on. Your sister’s friends had always seen you as her little sister and treated you as such, making fun of you on every occasion. When you got older the jokes stopped and her friends became your friends, but you had never truly forgiven them for the times you felt like you were nothing.
‘You do not strike me as a guy that craves a fight,’ you responded. ‘Have you never considered running?’
Steve looked down to his hands, shaking his head. ‘If you start running, they’ll never let you stop. You stand up, push back… you can’t say no forever, right?’
You listened to him carefully, swallowing hard, realizing the courage he truly had. You had never had to protect yourself like he had to. Sure, you had been in fights, but that was as a warrior of Asgard, when you knew you were stronger than your enemies. Steve was probably never stronger.
‘I do know what it is like. Standing in the shadows…’
Steve nodded, probably wondering what you were talking about. ‘I guess I just don’t know why you would want to join the army if you’re a beautiful dame… or a beautiful… woman… an agent. Not a dame…’
You turned to him again, frowning at his words. You liked him telling you you were beautiful, but it was somehow amusing that he had so much trouble to tell you.
‘You are beautiful, but…’ Steve stopped talking, sighing as he saw the look on your face.
‘You have no idea how to talk to a woman, do you?’ you said, smiling.
‘Apart from our previous talks…. This is the longest conversation I’ve had with one,’ Steve laughed softly, even though he probably didn’t find it funny. ‘Women are not exactly getting in line to dance with a guy they might step on…’ he continued sadly, lowering his head again.
You nodded, remembering how you had felt on the big, lavish parties in the great halls of Asgard. Men had been tripping over each other to ask Sif to dance with them, but the only one that had ever asked you to dance, was Loki, and probably only because no one wanted to dance with him either.
‘But you must have danced…’ you suggested, not able to imagine that no one would have wanted to dance with him.
‘Well, asking a woman to dance always seemed too terrifying and the past few years it just didn’t seem to matter that much. I figured I’d wait.’
‘For what?’ you asked, swallowing hard, thinking it was sad that he had never been close with a woman before. Not that you had been close with someone, but you felt the loneliness in your own heart and figured it must be the same for him.
‘The right partner,’ Steve said confidently, sure he was going to find one eventually. He turned his head towards you and you smiled. ‘What about you? I’m sure all the guys were lining up…’
‘Not exactly,’ you mumbled, before you were interrupted by the driver.
‘We’re here.’
He parked the car in front of an antiques store and both you and Steve got out of the car, forgetting about the conversation you had just had. Steve held the door open for you and helped you push yourself from the backseat. You thanked him and he in turn asked what you were doing here. You ignored his question and walked inside the store, desperately trying to remember the password Colonel Phillips had given you.
After a short conversation with the woman that owned the store, you were led into a back area of the store. Steve looked at you doubtfully, probably not knowing what were to happen, but also scared for what he did know was about to come.
The calculations you had made with Doctor Erskine and Howard Stark were correct, but you didn’t exactly know what kind of effect the serum would have. You made slight modifications so that every good quality Steve had would be enhanced, including his intellect. He’d be as strong as any Asgardian and as tall as he always wanted to be. You could only hope the serum worked as you had intended it to and that it wouldn’t change his personality. You would never forgive yourself if it would.
‘Are you ready?’ you asked him.
‘As ready as I’ll every be I suppose.’
You nodded at the woman and she pressed a button that opened the large door disguised as a cabinet with books.
‘Let us go then,’ you smiled. ‘After today, everything will be different.’
You couldn’t have been more right.

Super Soldier Syndrome (BuckyxReaderxSteve) Part 3
"Poor little Bucky ain't scared now, is he?" chuckled Steve, making fun of the way that Bucky constantly gulped and looked at his assigned chair and barber.
"You better go sit down before your barber loses her patience. You never want to make a barber lose their patience," you teased, slightly pushing him towards his seat.
"Remember that haircut you earned when you zoned out after you first drafted?" Steve laughed, just as Bucky sat down.
"Damn it, I was so close to forgetting about that! Sometimes you make me wish I stayed as the Winter Soldier," Bucky glared at Steve, his face slo

Becky, your co-worker, swaggered into your cubicle at S.H.I.E.L.D HQ and grinned, spinning your chair away from the computer screen and towards her. "I have good news." She stated, her eyes wide in excitement, her capability to keep the news in was wearing thin.
You laughed softly, your hands still frozen in the position of typing on your computer keyboard.
"And what would that be?" You asked, looking up at her from your swively chair.
"They're back." She giggled and bounced up and down, clasping her hands together.
You didn't say a word as you sprang to your feet and ran to the landing dock, your feet carrying you at an inhuman speed to

Loki actually asked me to dance? eh it's probably because we're both kind of emotionless and anti-social
