When you woke up again late at night the bed was cold and empty. You slowly pushed yourself up, rubbing the sleep from your eyes. It was completely dark inside the room, but you didn't need your sight to know something was wrong. Steve was gone.
You felt your heart beat violently in your chest and your stomach turned as your mind started racing, coming up with all kind of terrible scenarios. You quickly got out of Steve's bed and made your way to the door. You called out for him softly, hoping he was in the bathroom or watching TV in the small living room next door.
There was no sound whatsoever.
You walked out onto the hallway, seeing the moonlight illuminate your way to the kitchen. You didn't dare to breath as you looked down, seeing little drops of blood lead your way down the hall.
'Oh, no...' you whispered as you started running and tried to keep yourself from crying.
You had done all you could, even enhancing the cure with some of the components of doctor Erskine's original serum. But it had all been futile. Steve was going to die anyway.
You rushed down the hallway, entering the kitchen and frantically looking around you as you panted heavily. Bloody towels covered the entire counter and you swallowed hard, feeling hot tears stream down your face.
‘Steve!’ you cried out with a raspy voice.
There was no responds and you were ready to fall on your knees and cry all the frustration you had been feeling for the past few days out in one loud sob, when the door to the balcony opened and Steve walked in, rubbing his arms to get the warmth into his bones again.
‘[Name]?’ he frowned, seeing you standing next to the kitchen counter, holding the bloody towels in your hands, tears streaming down your face.
‘Steve!’ you exclaimed, feeling even more tears blur your vision. ‘I thought you died…’ you mumbled, letting go of the towels and running towards him, into his arms.
‘Died? But I only went to get some fresh air,’ he frowned. ‘You were sleeping so peacefully. I didn’t want to wake you up.’
You nodded, burying your face in the crook of his neck and letting him fold his arms around you. ‘When I saw the blood on the floor and the towels in the kitchen, I just assumed…’ you sighed, closing your eyes and shaking that thought away. Steve wasn’t dead. Your cure had worked.
You felt Steve press a kiss on your hair and he smiled at your words. ‘Don’t worry about me, [Name]. I’m fine. Thanks to you. And as for the blood… Tony was in here just a few minutes ago, yelling at Friday for not giving him the right calculations. I think he even told her he wished he had J.A.R.V.I.S. back. I know better than to ask what happened,’ he laughed softly.
You chuckled, wiping the tears from your face and pulling Steve even closer against you, feeling his rapid heartbeat against your chest. ‘Just don’t scare me like that again,’ you told him. ‘I don’t think my heart can endure any more.’
Steve nodded, caressing your back. ‘I promise,’ he sighed happily, clearly enjoying the warmth of your body. ‘Tell me something though,' he continued, whispering in your hair. You could hear the sadness in his voice. 'I know you told me before that you don't care about how I look, but if we take this any further you need to know that it's not just the looks that changed. I'm sick, [Name]. A lot sicker than you know. I wouldn’t want you to regret being with me…'
You slowly looked up at him, moving your hand up to his cheek, feeling the cold of the wind that was still on his face. 'Steve,’ you smiled sadly. ‘I could never regret being with you. I love you. Whatever it is, we'll get through it together.'
A smile curled his lips and he leaned in, pressing a kiss on your lips. ‘How about that date tomorrow then?’ he whispered, his lips lingering on yours. ‘I’ve been telling Natasha that I’m fine for two days now. I think another day won’t really matter.’
‘I would have to check my schedule, but I think tomorrow's good,’ you laughed softly as Steve pressed another kiss on your lips. ‘Yeah, tomorrow’s good…’
‘Let’s get back to bed,’ Steve said, slowly pushing you out of his embrace and taking your hand in his, pulling you with him as he walked into the hallway and back towards his room.
Once you were back you both quickly crawled into Steve’s bed and he took you in his arms again. You were awake long after his rapid breathing had turned into a soft hum, thinking about all the things that had happened in the past few days. You had always wanted to be with Steve, but you had never thought it would happen like this.
You fell asleep again after several minutes, a smile curling your lips as your thoughts were with the date you were having with Steve tomorrow. Your first real date in a long, long time. And something told you, it would end really, really well…
Extended ending
When you awoke again it was early in the morning. The first light hadn't shown itself yet, but you could hear the birds whistling their morning tune. You could barely make out the objects in the room as you threw your legs over the side of the bed, but you could feel the warmth of Steve's body next to yours and a smile curled your lips. He was still here.
You quickly made your way to the bathroom and poured yourself a glass of water, feeling the dryness of your throat every time you swallowed. You yawned, looking in the mirror, seeing the mess that had once been your hair. You chuckled, trying to get it back into shape again, but you were only making it worse. You took a quick look at Steve, who was still fast asleep in his bed, and sighed, realizing you finally had what you had wanted for the past few years: Steve.
When you had emptied your glass of water, you made your way back into the bedroom, rubbing the sleep from your eyes, seeing the black spots that circled up and down in your vision. You walked towards the bed again and quickly crawled back in, feeling the coldness of the floor on your feet. Steve turned around, pulling the covers over his head and moaning softly.
You sighed, shaking your head and pulling back the covers. You felt Steve's hand searching for you, caressing your back. You let him take you in his embrace and you smiled, feeling his strong arms close around your body.
'Good morning,' he whispered, pressing a kiss in your neck.
You turned around in his arms, letting your hand rest on his cheek. You looked deep into his blue eyes, your lips curling into a loving smile. It quickly disappeared from your face as you looked at Steve a little closer and felt his strong arms pulling tightly against him.
You let out a tiny scream, startling Steve, who looked at you worriedly.
'What's wrong?' he frowned, quickly letting go of you. 'Did I hurt you?'
You shook your head, caressing his muscled chest with your hand. Were you still dreaming? He had been small Steve just a few hours ago...
'Steve,' you whispered, looking up at him again. 'C-Captain,' you mumbled, correcting yourself. ‘You’re back…’
Steve also looked at himself, seeing the muscles that nearly burst open his shirt. He swallowed hard. You could see the tension in his body, but you couldn’t help yourself from smiling.
‘It worked…’ you sighed. ‘It actually worked.’
Slowly a smile also curled his lips and he let his hand go through your hair. ‘I told you, you would fix it,’ he whispered, pulling you into his arms again. ‘Doctor Erskine would be proud of you,’ he added, pressing a kiss on your forehead.
You nodded, caressing his cheek with your fingers. ‘He would be proud of the both of us. In spite of everything, you stayed yourself, like he hoped you would.’
‘I guess you’re right. I will always be Captain America. Big or small.’
‘And what does that make me?’ you smiled. ‘Robin?’
Steve laughed softly. ‘The right partner…’

Inbetween Worlds (Avengers x Reader) Chapter 12
“Energy. A strange energy.”
Heimdall's face floated at the edge of your view, fuzzy and not quite visible. When you tried to turn to look at him, he only grew fuzzier. All around you, other familiar faces hung in similar manners, speaking at the same time. They all said different things, speaking to quickly and overlapping one another too much to really be heard clearly.
“This represents your life.”
“I don't know if God exists anymore.”
“I will bring you back someday.”
“(y/n) is dead!”
“Chaos breeds more of its kind.”
“This could be the way to get you home!

We're Friends // Steve x Reader x Bucky
Amazing wasn't a word you usually used to describe things, but now, it seemed needed.
Steve had called you to see if you'd like to watch a movie with him—you'd agreed, obviously ecstatic when you practically screamed "Yes!" over the phone. Then, he'd asked if he could bring a friend along, and you were too happy to even think about his question, so you screamed yes again.
It literally only took you a matter of seconds to get ready. Time flew by and you were sitting on your couch, not nearly as still as you'd hoped to be but every bit of excited as you were the last minute. Dressed in a measly black tank top and cute, breezy gray skirt,

~*~Year 14; 2 Days~*~
They'd been waiting in the hospital about 48 hours after what had happened. (Name) had refused to leave, letting Steve and James go back home and take care of themselves and their floor while she waited for Winnie to wake up in the hospital bed.
After recovering from the massive avalanche of emotions they'd all just experienced, it was finally time for them to be able to think rationally, again. Bruce had been the original party pooper, mentioning that when Winnie came to, she was most likely going to panic.
Being raised by aliens her entire life (allegedly, and much to the distaste of her actual parents), he pointed
